Historical lineage and present status
The Island offers a fascinating panorama of the city from a distance. Great array of historic events are associated with this island. It is where Brutus plotted the assassination of Famous Roman emperor Julius Caesar and it is where Cicero consulted Brutus on the future of Rome after the plotted assassination of Caesar. In the nineteenth century it was the site of a Bourbon prison and presently there is a state prison for juveniles.
Nisida Island is now connected to the mainland with a thin stone bridge and walking up to the island on this bridge is not a bad idea. You can go there by boat, in either case the experience of looking over mesmerizing panoramic views of the city skyline and the picturesque blue gulf water is waiting for you. The beach here is clean and a little pebbled and the water is crystal clear with beautiful separate blue hues. There is enough woods in the island providing good shade near the beach making it an ideal place to relax for travelers on their cherished holidays in Naples. For adding an adventurous tinge to your trip you can swim up to the port on the mainland, especially as water here is mostly calm.
